Next to Animal Kingdom Lodge is Kidani Village (opened May 1, 2009), a Disney Vacation Club Resort. The theming at Animal Kingdom Jambo House is some of the best in the Disney Vacation Club network. If you’re looking for a DVC golden gem, book a club-level concierge room at AKV Jambo House. You can’t beat the unlimited snacks that come with this kind of room.

Room Options (
There is less artwork in the room but it’s still a nice space. On the other hand, I loved the decor in the living room. As you see in the photo above, the table and bench are a focal point. Extending the architecture style we see in the lobby into the room with pieces like the bench is a nice thematic choice. I really like the hanging lamps and painted plates by the table as well. The couch is another pull-out and the chair turns into a twin size bed.

There are also a range of views, including either one of the savannas, landscaping, pool, or the parking area. If you’ve researched hotels at Walt Disney World, you know the basics. The savanna view does cost extra (in points or dollars), but we feel it’s worth it once, especially for those who will be spending a lot of time in the room. When we did a savanna view room, one morning, absolutely no animals were visible shortly after sunrise. In addition to standard/villa room sizes, Jambo House also offers 1-Bedroom, 2-Bedroom, and 3-Bedroom Grand Villas.

You get proximity to the parks, impeccable theming, and all kinds of unique amenities. We ended up in a 2-bedroom villa at Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House during our June trip with my family. There were 7 adults and 1 kid in our party and we ended up using DVC points to get our room. The room was a 2-bedroom lock-off meaning that this is a studio room joined with a 1-bedroom villa.
Kidani Village
There was no reason for this to exist where it was, and I can’t imagine many guests hanging out here, but there it was. Something tells me this is not the only such spot hidden down random hallways at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Even setting this aside (which is an odd, arbitrary thing to do), Animal Kingdom Lodge would rank near the top of Walt Disney World’s resorts.
For other admission types, theme park reservations may be required. Fortunately, you do not need to pay extra for a better room view to enjoy it. (No one? Just me? Okay, moving on…) Returning back, the savanna was totally dark, but it was still peaceful to go out on our balcony and sit and relax. As we indicated in our Wilderness Lodge v. Animal Kingdom Lodge post, Jambo House is actually closer to every park than Wilderness Lodge, aside from Magic Kingdom. The same would hold true between Jambo House and any monorail loop resort and while I’m not going to run the numbers on every hotel, I’m betting it’s also true of a few others.
Disney used to have a service where you were able to purchase items in the parks and then have them delivered to your resort’s gift shop. However, that service has been unavailable for several years now. Even though the front desk is there to assist guests, especially with checking in and checking out, all Disney World Resort guests are encouraged to check-in online or by using MDE.
They could be described as drab as the color palette isn’t exactly light and inviting, but I love the look. I think it works perfectly for the resort, and not every hotel needs to have an “uplifting” visual motif. I’m sure there’s some deep-cut backstory explaining the significance of these subtle thematic tweaks, but it’s probably not going to be obvious to the average guest.
That only goes for on-site hotels as they’re all expensive. Depending on the time of year, the room can be found for between $600-$700 a night. Saratoga Springs and Old Key West can be found for less but Animal Kingdom Lodge comes after that. Instead of booking through Disney, I’d recommend looking into renting DVC points from a number of sites for the cheapest price possible. Although parking at Disney World resort hotels used to cost a nightly fee for resort guests, Disney has changed their policy so that parking is now free for all on-site resort guests. Rooms feature the standard amenities, including a hairdryer, TV, free WiFi, a coffee maker, telephone, in-room safe, and an iron and ironing board.
The location is pretty prime here, and you can see a good selection of animals like pelicans, geese, giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, and others. Since I’ve already reviewed Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House as a whole, I’m not going to dive deep into the hotel today. In short, we love Animal Kingdom Lodge and recommend it. The location isn’t great, unless you’re focusing on Animal Kingdom, but the hotel is unique, beautiful and has great amenities. Any balloons brought to the resort (from the theme parks, for example) will have to be checked with bell services for the duration of the guest’s stay. This information might be helpful to families with younger children, so there are no disappointments when returning to the resort.

A detailed hotel bill is delivered to your door by 7AM. Late Check-out of noon can be requested without additional cost (very limited availability).
